Best seasons for Saribung Peak Climb:
The best time for this wonderful adventure is in the spring and autumn seasons, from March to May, and autumn/fall begins from September to November months.
Springtime from March to May will be much more lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the magnolia, and rhododendrons the national flower of Nepal.
March to May fine clear day most of the time, with longer sun-light hours but can get overcast in the late afternoon with chances of snow sometimes around higher areas, above 3,000 m. Autumn/fall is another best time for this trek and climbs with fine clear days for views and climbs. But days are shorter with limited sunlight hours, morning, late afternoon, and nighttime temperatures drop.
But with the bright starry night sky and chances of snow on trails as well on passes.
Religion, Culture and Geography:
Far North Mid-West Nepal, around Mustang and Manang districts populated by Bhotias and Mustang mountain tribes. The native around high Mustang and Phu of Upper Manang follows a strong Buddhist religion and culture. Similar to the Tibetan predecessors, this treks with time to explore traditionally built houses.
The houses are adorned with Buddhist prayer flags and religious monuments. Beyond Jomsom Town and Kagbeni village, will come across rows of prayer walls, spinning and spinning wheels. Includes Buddhist stupas, walking clockwise will be the right way around the prayer walls. Which is a gesture of respect to the local culture, as well being as a Responsible Tourist. The Upper Mustang with dry landscapes, an extension of Tibet’s South West plateau. The areas around Upper Mustang are similar to Tibetan barren terrains, as well as the people. Who migrated to Mustang around the 6th Century during the time of the first king of Mustang Ame Pal. Although in a dry country, only a few trees survive like the willow, poplars, and junipers. The locals harvest barley, mustard, and buckwheat as the main crops, with livestock of yaks, sheep, and goats.

The route from Upper Mustang, after the former walled kingdom of Lo-Manthang, takes you windswept dry country. The walk follows the pilgrimage path to Damodar Kunda, a glacial pond revered as holy by the Hindu followers.
Adventure towards the far end of Upper Mustang, where only a few groups of trekkers and climbers seldom venture around this wild country. After Saribung Peak Climb, the return journey lead to crossing over the pass to reach Upper Manang at Phu.
Saribung Peak is at 6,328 m / 20, 882 feet high, the least known trekking peaks four outside visitors. Stand hidden around the Far North East of Upper Mustang and west of Nar-Phu villages. The climbing grade ‘PD’ or “Per Difficult”, the climb is straightforward with few technical sections to tackle.
From the Saribung Peak summit, enjoy the grand vista of the high scenic plateau of Mustang and views of Manang areas. Include a towering range of Far Western Himalayas with Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri’s, and Bhrikuti Himal with some mountains of Tibet side.
The adventure for Saribung Peak Climb and traverse to Phu around Upper Manang starts from Jomsom Town. The journey then heads towards Upper Mustang after Kagbeni village, enjoyable walks between high canyons and windblown cliffs. Exploring lovely villages of Chele, Ghami, and Charang, then enter the former walled kingdom of Lo Manthang.
After spending a wonderful time at Lo-Manthang, the adventure leads to remote and isolated corners of Upper Mustang.
The journey continues towards windswept, rugged country away from villages, then reaching Saribung Peak base camp.
Before reaching Saribung Peak base camp, having time around the holy Damodar Kund (pond), the climb is undertaken after good preparation. The climbing leads close to the pass and then heads higher to reach top of Saribung Peak.
On achieving the main goal and highlight of the adventures and climb towards the high pass of Saribung Peak. The Saribung pass is about 300 m less than the summit to reach the far western pockets of Upper Manang. Where Phu village located, enjoying time at Phu, the adventure joins on the main trail of Annapurna Circuit. Slowly, the trek then comes to an end at Dharapani village for a long and exciting drive back to Kathmandu.
